JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientists: Acceptance Procedure for FY2026 Preliminary Selectees

The acceptance procedure for FY2026 JSPS Research Fellowships will commence on January 26, 2026. Please read the document titled “JSPS Acceptance Procedure Guidance for FY2026” carefully and complete all required procedures by the stipulated deadlines.
Details regerding the procedures that require approval from the host institution, as well as the entry of the “Research Number and Academic Unit Numberof the Host Institution (Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows),” are provided below. Please review the information and complete the necessary procedures bt the internal deadlines. All the preliminary selectees for FY2026 are required to perform the fellowship acceptance procedure.

1. Acceptance Procedure

◆	JSPS Acceptance Procedure Guidance for FY2026 *Please visit the link and download the application guideline.
◆	JSPS Electronic Application System for Research Fellowships *The entire fellowship acceptance procedure will be done on the JSPS Electronic Application System. No documents need to be submitted through postal mail.
◆	The JSPS PD-Research Fellow will be employed at our institution in a full-time equivalent position on April 1, 2026, as a Specially Appointed Researcher. For the employment procedures, please contact your host researcher and the department office. JSPS PD-Research Fellow must complete both the JSPS PD-Research Fellowship acceptance procedures and the employment process.

2. Procedure Requiring Host Institution Approval

The following items require approval from the host institution. Eligible individuals should complete the necessary procedure by internal deadlines. Please note that these internal deadlines are earlier than those set by JSPS, as additional time is needed to complete for internal processing.

(5)	Certificate of Degree	PD Candidates	Tue., March 24, 2026	Submit a certificate to both the host institution and JSPS
(6)	Certificate of enrollment	DC Candidates	Fri., April, 2, 2026	Submit a certificate of enrollment issued on or after April 1, 2026

*If there are any changes to the information stated in your application, please ensure that you complete the necessary change process before submitting your official acceptance request.
*The host institution’s approval will be processed in a single batch after all candidates have completed their acceptance procedures. Therefore, the current processing status displayed on your screen will remain as “受入機関確認中 (Received by Applying Organization)” until just before the JSPS deadline, even after you have submitted your request. We appreciate your understanding in advance.

3. Entering Researcher Number and Academic Unit Number of the Host Research Institution (Grant-in-Aid-for JSPS Fellows)

To make an application for the Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows, those who have applied for the Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows at the time of the application need to fill in the following unit number in the “Entering Research Number and Academic Unit Number of the Host Research Institution (Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows)” screen.

● Researcher Number: If you have obtained a research number, please enter it. If you do not have it, please leave it blank in this item.
● Host Academic Unit Number: Click the List button in the display and select the unit number that matches your host academic unit from the following list.

● Submission of Notice of Fellowship Category Change (From DC to PD) [by March 18 (If applicable)]
