Overseas Travel for Research During the Fellowship Period

● If you intend to travel abroad for research purposes during the fellowship period, you must obtain your host researcher’s approval in advance.
● If your period of overseas travel is 28 days or longer, you must notify JSPS before departure and submit the required documents after your return.
● The total period of overseas travel is limited to two-thirds of the fellowship period. *Certain exceptions apply

1. [Before Departure] Contact JSPS through 学振マイページ

If your period of overseas travel is 28 days or longer, please notify JSPS through 学振マイページ at least one month prior to departure and provide the following details: destination (Country),travel period, purpose of travel, etc.

If your travel plans change after notifying JSPS, you must also report the changes through 学振マイページ.

2. [After Your Return] Contact JSPS through 学振マイページ

After returning to Japan, please register the details through 学振マイページ and submit the required documents. For further details, please see below.

3. Required Documents

(1) 海外渡航届 <Form 3-1>
(2) 海外渡航報告書 <Form 3-2> *DC Fellows only (To be completed by the host researcher.)

[Submission Deadline] Within one month after returning to Japan

Once you have prepared the required documents, please submit them to our section by email. Our section will submit them to JSPS after completing the internal procedures.

4. Notes

・If your period of overseas travel is less than 28 days, you are not required to notify JSPS or submit any documents.
・For DC Fellows enrolled in an overseas graduate degree program, the two-thirds limit on the total overseas travel period does not apply.
